Caterina Samson

“Nothing impresses me more than a clear concept. Like Paul Rand said, ‘If there is no idea there is no design.'”

Caterina approaches design as artistically as possible. She tries to step away from the computer and design on paper with pencils and paints first – then take those elements of texture and use the computer software to make them come alive. She looks at design as solving a puzzle for the client and strives to find ways to make images artistically and uniquely speak without words. She graduated from the University of Los Andes in Venezuela and after a year of freelancing with the University, relocated to the capital city to work for an international marketing and advertising magazine. Before coming to Yellowknife, she worked for Canada’s Immigration Museum in Halifax for a year designing their displays and information materials. Caterina loves the research aspect of projects – learning more about the client and what their values are, so she can ensure their message speaks to their audience in the smartest and most memorable way possible.
