While KELLETT has been the NDC’s agency of record for several years, the opportunity to work on the Vancouver 2010 Inukshuk marketing project was won through a competitive RFP to develop the business and marketing plan. This opportunity allowed us to be involved from the very beginning, a position we strive for because it allows the greatest collaboration with our clients on the products path to market. Read more.

The scope of this project was very complex due to the varied interests of project stakeholders. From carvers in the communities and the need to educate them early on, to NDC’s retailer partners in southern cities to political interest, each had distinct but strong motivation for seeing the project succeed in a timely manner. In addition to these groups, working with the Vancouver Olympic Committee exposed our agency to the complex operations of a billion dollar multinational enterprise.

Upon completing the marketing plan, which included coordinating licensing agreements with Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), KELLETT began work on the product packaging and buyer’s materials. Working with the VANOC visual identity guide, we developed a trilingual package that showcases original hand-carved inuit sculpture, available for sale during the Olympics in a commemorative, yet cost-effective package. In addition to the consumer packaging, we also conceived the packaging solution for the high-end collector-quality pieces. This solution was based on adapting the previous materials to highlight the artistic integrity of the larger pieces.
