Website Re-Development and Public Registry Integration

The Office of the Regulator of Oil and Gas Operations (OROGO) was established on April 1, 2014, due to the transfer of responsibility for public land, water and resource management to the Government of the Northwest Territories from the federal government. The new site should show both well and geophysical data in a visually appealing way.

Orogo public registry.

Client Need

  • Rebuild the site in Drupal 10 for increased security and longevity.
  • Create a refreshed design based on current OROGO branding guidelines.
  • Mobile and accessibility friendly
  • Easily view well and geophysical data
  • Public registry system

Approach

Initially built on Drupal 7 it was time for it to be upgrade to Drupal 10 for the added security benefits along with a much improved content editing experience. We began with migrating and importing the old data to the new site and began developing the new site with the clients needs in mind, they were involved in every single step in the process. The whole project progressed following agile methodologies adapting to client feedback as it came.

Orogo well data

Results

The site features a clean, modern, mobile-friendly, and accessible design, powered by a robust content management system. This system makes it simple to add rich, visually engaging content to any page. Well data and past Geophysical/Geoscience Programs are displayed on an interactive map, with each well location marked by a single pin, while Geo data is a greyed out area. Clicking a pin or area reveals detailed information and related files for that well or program. The site also includes an easy-to-use public registry system, which can be filtered to quickly find details on any ongoing activity.
